Which session type is right for you?
Inclusive and tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and parent, I offer both one-to-one and small group tutoring sessions. Whether it’s building foundational knowledge, skills, or confidence in reading, writing, or maths, or preparing for exams like SATs and the 11+, my approach is flexible and child-centred. Sessions are interactive and fun, using a range of resources to make learning engaging and effective. I continuously assess progress and provide regular feedback, ensuring your child is always moving forward confidently.

One-to-One Tutoring
Each child is unique, and one-to-one tutoring allows me to tailor every session specifically to your child’s needs. This personalised approach ensures that we can focus on their individual challenges, whether it's in reading, writing, maths, or other areas. Through interactive and engaging 50 minute lessons, I help build confidence and understanding, leading to measurable progress and a boost in academic performance.
Note: 1x single session £50 or 4x sessions per month £35 each.

Group Sessions
Small groups of four provide a dynamic and collaborative learning environment for students. These 50min sessions are designed to encourage peer interaction and support while still offering the focused attention each child needs. I use hands-on resources and a variety of activities to make learning fun and effective, building on both academic skills and social development. These sessions build academic success through peer collaboration, reasoning, and problem-solving. Children feel safe to question and support each other through carefully tailored sessions that meet each child’s needs.
Note: Minimum of 4x bookings with a monthly rolling subscription.

My Story
Hi, I’m Laura, and teaching has always been my passion. With over a decade of experience as a primary school teacher, I’ve seen firsthand how children can sometimes miss out on crucial learning moments in the fast-paced classroom environment. I have a passion for learning and can build a positive rapport with the children I teach so they feel safe. I connect and empathise with my students so they trust me and enjoy their learning. That’s why I started Teign Valley Tutoring – to give children the personalised attention they need to truly understand and excel in their studies.

How this works.
Getting started with Teign Valley Tutoring is simple. You'll get access to a free 30min discovery call so we can work together to understand your child’s needs. Feel at ease, I'm here to support you in finding solutions that work for you and your child.
After our call, I'll suggest a group subscription that can be found from subscriptions page, whether one-to-one or in small groups of four. Once you've found and selected your preferred group subscription, you'll pay and complete your first booking. You're now ready to book the rest of your sessions at once with me at any available time slot that works for you.
Each session is designed to be interactive and fun, using a range of resources to support learning. Regular assessments and feedback ensure we’re always on track, and I'll promise to make sure you receive updates to keep you involved in your child’s progress.

Your questions, answered

Can parents stay during the tutoring sessions?Parents are encouraged to stay nearby but not in direct eye sight to avoid distractions. The learning space needs to be quiet and away from others to ensure an effective learning environment.

What if the tutor is unable to deliver a planned session?If I am unable to deliver a session, I will make every effort to rearrange it. If we cannot find a suitable time, the session will be credited to a future session.

How do payments work?After the initial discovery call, parents/carers need to book and pay for all sessions in advance.

What is ‘Own Work’?'Own Work’ is a small amount of homework set to reinforce session learnings. It helps your child progress more rapidly and is marked with feedback provided in the next session.

What happens if my child is unable to attend a session due to sickness?If you provide 24-hour notice, we can rearrange the session for another time that week or credit it to the next session. If less than 24-hour notice is given, refunds will not be provided.
