Teign Valley Tutoring Terms & Conditions

Group Tutoring:

Sessions and Booking:

  • Additional hours or alternative times may be available during holiday periods if space permits. Blocks of sessions run on a monthly basis alongside local school holidays, with potential higher costs for holiday periods.

  • Book and pay for a block of four sessions in advance via email (teignvalleytutoring@gmail.com) or phone (07506748272).

    Session Details:

  • Each group session lasts 50 minutes at my home address on New Exeter Street, Chudleigh, Newton Abbot, TQ13 0DB.

  • Feedback for 1:1 sessions can be included within the hour upon request; group sessions will receive weekly email feedback.

  • The exact address will be sent before the first lesson.

Cancellations and Absences:

  • 24-hour notice is required for sickness or other cancellations; otherwise, rescheduling may not be possible.

  • Planned absences require 4 weeks’ notice for rearrangements without payment.

  • Tutor holidays and bank holidays may affect session dates.

Timekeeping and Parental Involvement:

  • Sessions must start on time. If a student is 10 minutes late, the session may be cancelled and extra time will not be given to make up for this.

  • Parents/carers should not participate in sessions and, for 1:1 sessions, should stay near the vicinity but out of direct eyesight.

Homework ('Own Work'):

  • Short amounts of 'Own Work' may be set to reinforce skill fluency based upon the session with feedback provided in the next session.

  • Parents/carers should encourage completion of 'Own Work' for better progress.

Safeguarding:

  • Parents must stay within the vicinity during 1:1 sessions for safeguarding reasons.

  • The tutor, Laura Farr, is DBS checked and up to date with regular safeguarding and Prevent training.

GDPR:

  • Personal data is collected and stored securely, used solely for providing tutoring services. Contact information is used for scheduling, invoicing, record keeping, and communicating services. Data will not be shared unless legally required. Laura Farr is the ‘controller’ of your data.

Payment:

  • Payment for a block of four sessions is due at least one day before the first session via the online booking system. No cash payments accepted.

  • Failure to pay may result in cancellation of the block and withdrawal of the tutoring place.

1:1 Tutoring:

Absences:

  • 1:1 sessions may be rearranged for another time that week, or credited to the next arranged session. If cancelled without 24-hour notice, rescheduling may not be possible.

Arranged Absences:

  • 4 weeks’ notice is required for planned absences to rearrange sessions without payment.

Tutor Holidays and Sickness:

  • Sessions will be booked around tutor holidays and bank holidays, which may affect dates. If the tutor is unable to deliver a session, efforts will be made to rearrange or credit the session. Parents will be informed of cancellations promptly.

  • Refunds will only be provided if no future time can be arranged.

Timekeeping and Parental Involvement:

  • Sessions last 50 minutes. Extra time can be arranged one week prior at £10 per extra 15 minutes. Sessions must start on time; repeated lateness may lead to contract termination.

  • Parents should stay in the vicinity for 1:1 sessions, but out of direct eyesight to avoid distractions.

Homework ('Own Work'):

  • ‘Own Work’ may be set to reinforce session content, with feedback provided in the next session. Parents should encourage completion for better progress.
